Apollo Hospitals
Apollo Hospitals Enterprise Limited is an Indian hospital chain based in Chennai, India. It was founded by Dr Prathap C. Reddy in 1983 as the first corporate health care in India. Several of the group's hospitals have been among the first in India to receive international healthcare accreditation by America-based Joint Commission International (JCI). as well as 13 NABH National Accreditation Board for Hospitals & Healthcare Providers hospitals.
The group has developed services in telemedicine, after starting a pilot project in 2000 at Aragonda, Prathap Reddy's home village.
The organisation signed a ‘memorandum of understanding’ with Health Education England in April 2017 to provide a large number of doctors to fill vacancies in the English National Health Service.
The organisation is listed on the Bombay Stock Exchange and the National Stock Exchange.
It was founded by Dr Prathap C. Reddy in 1983 as the first corporate health care in India. The first branch at Chennai was inaugurated by President of India Zail Singh.
Apollo Pharmacy
Apollo Pharmacy, a unit of Apollo Hospitals Enterprise is India's first and largest branded pharmacy network, with over 3000 plus outlets in over 18 states.
Apollo Pharmacy was started in 1987.
Hyderabad-based pharmacy chain Hetero Med Solutions Ltd (HMSL) was acquired by Apollo Pharmacy (Apollo Hospitals Enterprise Ltd) in 2014. HMSL had around 320 stores across Telangana, Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu.
Thyrocare
Thyrocare Technologies Limited is a chain of diagnostic and preventive care laboratories, based in Navi Mumbai. The company has 1,122 outlets and collection centers across India and parts of Nepal, Bangladesh and the Middle East.
Thyrocare was started in 1996, by A. Velumani, ex-scientist at Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC), Mumbai, Maharashtra. The first laboratory was set up in Byculla, Mumbai, with an initial focus on thyroid testing considering a huge potential for thyroid testing in India. The laboratory was later shifted to a larger set-up, its main headquarters and central processing laboratory at Navi Mumbai. The company introduced a franchisee model for procuring samples to be send for testing at their central laboratory in Mumbai.
Thyrocare mainly deals with thyroid testing along with more than 200 tests and 50-odd profiles comprising different tests for preventive care and wellness under its brand, Aarogyam.
In 2010, Thyrocare raised its first private equity funding with INR 188 crore from New Delhi-based CX Partners for a 30% stake. It set up a subsidiary, Nuclear Healthcare Limited, which uses PET-CT to detect and locate cancerous cells.
In 2014, Siemens Healthcare's Diagnostic Division installed its world's largest laboratory automation track – Aptio Automation – at its laboratory in Mumbai. Thyrocare became the first laboratory in India to install this automation by Siemens.
Fortis
Fortis Healthcare Limited (FHL) is a chain of hospitals, headquartered in India. Fortis started its health care operations from Mohali where first Fortis hospital was started. Later on, the hospital chain purchased the healthcare branch of Escorts group and increased its strength in various parts of the country. The Escorts Heart and research Center, Okhla, Delhi became a major operating unit of the chain which was headed by Naresh Trehan until he started his own chain by the name Medanta. The FMRI hospital at gurgaon is the headquarter of Fortis healthcare with all the major facilities at the hospital. Currently, the company operates its healthcare delivery services in India, Dubai and Sri Lanka with 36 healthcare facilities.
Fortis Healthcare was initially founded by Shivinder Mohan Singh and Malvinder Mohan Singh before the controversies and transferring of controlling share to Malaysia's IHH.
Malaysia's IHH Healthcare Bhd has become the controlling shareholder of Fortis Healthcare Ltd by acquiring a 31.1% stake in the company. Fortis Healthcare also appointed four persons from IHH Healthcare to its board in a meeting held at Mohali. The board approved the allotment of over 230 million shares through preferential issue to Northern TK Venture Pte Ltd, a wholly owned indirect subsidiary of IHH Healthcare, at ?170 per share of ?10 face value.
In 2018, Manipal Hospitals and TPG Capital acquired Fortis Healthcare Limited as part of a deal for Rs 3900 crore.
In 2019, Fortis Healthcare announced that it has completed the acquisition of RHT Health Trust (RHT) assets for an enterprise value of Rs 4,650 crores. In 2019,Fortis Healthcare reported a consolidated net profit of Rs.78.01 Crore for the Quarter ended June 30.
